equity4success unites all aspects of the equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) work at Â鶹ÊÓƵ

We are committed to providing an atmosphere which is fair and inclusive, welcoming differences, and valuing and recognising the contribution and potential of all individuals at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ. We believe doing excellent science that benefits everyone can only happen if everyone has equitable opportunities and access to a successful career within science.

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ believes that all employees, workers, students and visitors should be treated with dignity and respect. We ensure that opportunities are available on a fair and equitable basis and without discrimination. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ also expects all consultants, companies, suppliers, agencies, etc. working with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ to follow these principles.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ is committed to creating, maintaining and promoting equity and diversity in all aspects of its policies, procedures and activities, and to the principles of the Equality Act 2010. However, we also aim to go beyond the basic requirements of a safe and lawful workplace in acknowledging that we are all individuals with distinct needs, requiring not only equality, but also equitable processes and opportunities. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ is vehemently opposed to any form of unlawful or unfair discrimination and encourages issues or concerns to be raised at the highest level where they will be dealt with promptly and fairly.

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ is a member of a number of coalitions and accredited schemes that demonstrate our commitment to diversity and inclusion. You can find out about our involvement in Athena SWAN, EU-Life Working Groups, EDIS, and Disability Confident Employers here.

The equity4success blog provides a space for Â鶹ÊÓƵ staff to share their views, experiences and creative thoughts relating to equality, diversity and inclusion with colleagues and the wider public.

The equity4success team develops initiatives and organises a variety of internal events and activities that support our aims of engaging staff, improving working culture, and growing our regional equality network. We also have created many resources that are available for the public to use.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ provides many facilities, benefits and policies so staff, students, visitors and collaborators can make life work well.
