We are committed to being open about our science, including listening to concerns and participating in dialogue about the process of our research and its eventual applications, and to undertaking our research responsibly. Above all, we are passionate about what we do and about undertaking research and acting in a way that makes a difference.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ works with a range of organisations and audiences to share our research. This includes commercialising our research through spin-outs and partnerships so that our discoveries can be developed as quickly as possible to application. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ also has a strong history of public engagement, working with people of all ages and backgrounds to share, support and inspire.
As scientists we are excited about the potential of our discoveries to improve lifelong health. We work with organisations across the world to develop and share our expertise, advance our collective understanding of human biology in the context of health and to maximise the impact of our work.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s science interfaces with many key areas of policy from public health to education, from animal welfare to big data. Find out more about our policy aims, areas we work to contribute to and the partners we work with.
Our diverse public engagement and science communication activities aim to invite public groups to engage with both our science and our scientists. Our activities span community engagement opportunities in addition to tailored programmes for secondary school students and teachers onwards to undergraduate level.
To foster a community where innovation and engagement are recognised and celebrated, we award annual prizes for achievements in knowledge exchange and public engagement, plus equality and diversity and the creation of engaging images to explain and present our research.
